While tropical storm development is not anticipated over the Caribbean Sea and Latin America, areas of wet weather will develop on Sunday. A low pressure system that moved through the Eastern US will move into the Atlantic Ocean but continue pushing a cold front southward. This system will move over the Gulf of Mexico and into the northern Caribbean Sea, triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms as it passes through the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, over Cuba, and down the Yucatan Peninsula. The tail end of this system will push moisture into eastern Mexico from the western Gulf of Mexico. Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms to persist for southern, central, and eastern Mexico. Mexico City will be overcast with a chance of rain showers and highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). To the south, a monsoon trough of low pressure lingers over the western Caribbean Sea. This will support additional thunderstorms over Central America, stretching from Honduras and Nicaragua, and into Costa Rica and Panama.

In South America, moderate to heavy storms are expected to persist over Colombia and Ecuador as onshore flow continues from the Pacific Ocean. These storms will remain confined to the coastal regions. To the south, a frontal boundary lingers over southeastern Brazil, bringing more showers and thunderstorms to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Another weak system will develop over northern Argentina, but quickly diminish throughout the day. The southern tip of the continent will remain rainy as a low pressure system passes by to the south.
