Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, May 28, 2012. Subtropical Storm Beryl will make landfall along the north coast of Florida close to Georgia late Sunday night or early Monday morning as a tropical storm. It may then linger over the area through Tuesday, providing widespread rain and thunderstorms. This area of the United States has been suffering through an exceptional drought, so the rain associated with Beryl will mostly be beneficial.

No other tropical development is expected Monday as the official beginning of the hurricane season is just a few days away.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop in the typical areas of the western Caribbean Sea south of Cuba through Nicaragua. Additional thunderstorms will pop up over Central America from southern Mexico through Panama.

The Gulf of Mexico will experience two types of weather. In the western portion of the gulf, dry conditions are anticipated. In the east close to Florida, however, the affect of Beryl is likely to instigate moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

For South America, a strong storm will slam into Chile just south of Santiago. Widespread heavy rain and some high elevation snow will pound this area of the country while leaving the capital mostly dry.

Some of this moisture will leak into central Argentina, but will only produce light to moderate rain.

Uruguay and adjacent areas of southern Brazil and Argentina will remain mostly dry.

Typical tropical showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop in the northern third of the continent.

Rio De Janeiro will rise into the upper 80s(F)/upper 20s(C), while Buenos Aires will see temperatures in the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C). Santiago, Chile will rise into the lower 60s(F)/mid-10s(C).
