Areas of active weather will develop across the Caribbean Sea and Latin America on Monday. A low pressure system moves off the East Coast of the US, but pushes a cold front through Florida and the Bahamas, and into the Gulf of Mexico. This system will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms, which will move into the Yucatan Peninsula by evening. The tail end of this system will push moisture into eastern Mexico, kicking up thunderstorms over the region. Mexico City will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms and highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper teens(C). To the south, an area of low pressure lingers over the southwestern Caribbean Sea and will continue pushing moisture into Central America. This will allow for scattered storms to persist over Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

In South America, onshore flow from the Pacific Ocean strengthens and produces moderate to heavy thunderstorms over Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Further south, a trough of low pressure continues moving northward from northern Argentina and into southeastern Brazil. This will pull moisture in from the Atlantic, bringing widespread storms to Uruguay and Santa Catarina. Further south, expect more rain showers over southern Chile and Argentina, as a low pressure system passes by to the south and pushes ample moisture onshore.
