Hurricane Bud will continue spinning just west of southwestern Mexico on Sunday. The system is expected to continue losing strength, reducing to tropical depression strength with winds less than 39 mph (33 to 64 knots). As this system sits just offshore of western Mexico, expect strong winds and heavy rainfall to persist. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Manzanillo northwestward to Cabo Corrientes, and a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Punta San Telmo westward to east of Manzanillo. In the Atlantic Basin, an area of low pressure continues spinning just north of the Bahamas and has a high chance of tropical cyclone development as this system lingers over the region. Heavy rainfall and gusty winds will persist for most of the Bahamas and the northern Caribbean Islands. To the south, a monsoon trough of low pressure sitting over Central America will pull more moisture in from the western Caribbean Sea. This allows for moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to persist from southern Mexico through Panama.

In South America, showers and thunderstorms weaken over the northern countries as the monsoon trough remains well to the north. Thus, only a few showers and thunderstorms will persist for parts of Venezuela and Colombia. To the south, a strong low pressure system moves over central Chile and through Argentina. This will produce more heavy rain and strong thunderstorms over the southern tip of the continent.
