Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, February 08, 2012. After a rare February tropical disturbance, the Caribbean Sea will revert to a more normal pattern on Wednesday. This translates to scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the strongest thunderstorms expected along the coast of Central America from Nicaragua to Panama. Some of these thunderstorms will make their way inland over these countries as well.

In the Gulf of Mexico, a storm will develop just north of the Bay of Campeche. This storm will produce widespread heavy thunderstorms in the area and adjacent areas of Mexico. Gusty wind will accompany this storm over the open water.

Generally dry conditions are expected for Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and Cuba.

For South America, a front will move from northern Argentina, across Uruguay, and into adjacent areas of southern Brazil as the day progresses. This front will be strong enough to produce areas of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The heaviest of these thunderstorms are likely in a line from Buenos Aires to the Andes.

South of this front, dry conditions are expected for southern Argentina and much of Chile due to a strong high pressure system.

Typical tropical moisture will continue to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms in the northern third of the continent.

Rio De Janeiro will rise into the lower 90s(F)/lower 30s(C), while Buenos Aires will see temperatures in the upper 80s(F)/lower 30s(C). Santiago, Chile will rise into the mid-80s(F)/lower 30s(C).
