Dry conditions return to most of Japan, while wet weather persists for China on Saturday. A strong and small low pressure system that brought rainy and windy conditions to northeastern Japan will continue advancing eastward and into the North Pacific Ocean on Saturday. Behind this system, high pressure will build over the Sea of Japan, which will push moisture away to the north and south. Expect sunny skies in Tokyo with highs in the mid-70s(F)/ lower 20s(C), while Seoul will see a few patchy clouds with highs in the lower 80s(F)/ upper 20s(C).

Further west, a trough of low pressure hovers over southern China and pulls moisture in from the South China Sea. This will spread warm and moist air across most of southern China, kicking up widespread showers and thunderstorms that will reach into Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands. Hong Kong will be cloudy with thunderstorm activity and highs in the upper 80s(F)/ near 30(C), while Shanghai will be cloudy with a chance of rain and highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). To the north, high pressure dominates northern and central China, allowing for dry and sunny conditions. Beijing will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower 90s(F)/ lower 30s(C).

In Australia, dry and warm conditions are anticipated across most of the country as high pressure continues to build over the nation. A trough of low pressure passes to the south, but its associated frontal boundary does not reach into the surrounding coasts. Expect Sydney to see pleasant conditions with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s(F)/ near 20(C).
