Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, June 21, 2013. Tropical Storm Leepi will slowly move through the southern half of Japan Friday, eventually moving into the Pacific Ocean by the end of the day. This storm will have a significant amount of moisture associated with it and thus will have the capability of producing heavy amounts of rain for southern Honshu and Kyushu. This precipitation could linger through much of the day before diminishing in the afternoon and through the evening as the storm moves into the Pacific Ocean. Still, flooding could become a problem for areas in Kyushu.

Meanwhile, another tropical low pressure system will move through the South China Sea toward southeastern China. This feature will be loaded with lots of moisture that will have the capability of producing extensive precipitation. Most of this precipitation, however, will fall over open water, but some of the thunderstorms will move over the northern Philippines in the morning and north of Hainan Island in the evening.

Elsewhere, typical scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through southeast China.

Tokyo will rise into the mid-70s(F)/mid-20s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C). Seoul will rise into the lower 90s(F)/lower 30s(C).

For Australia, a storm will move through the Great Australian Bight and into the southeastern portion of the country. The rain from this storm will not spread as far east as Sydney, however. Also, another storm will move off the east coast of the country, providing light to moderate rain from Sydney through northern Brisbane. The rain that falls north of Brisbane could be rather heavy in nature and could cause flooding problems.

Sydney will rise into the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 50s(F)/mid-10s(C). Brisbane will rise into the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C).
