Cold, windy, and snowy conditions persist in parts of Europe on Sunday, as an active weather pattern affects the region. A ridge of high pressure spinning in the North Atlantic Ocean will support strong flow from the north and maintain cool temperatures. Extreme low temperature advisories and wind advisories remain in effect for most of central, southern and eastern Europe. At the same time, a small yet intense low pressure system continues spinning in the Mediterranean Sea. Counter-clockwise flow around this system continues pushing moisture northeastward, into southeastern Europe. Due to cold temperatures, snow and freezing rain showers will develop from northern Italy and Croatia, through Hungary and Romania. Rain showers will cover most of Greece and eastern Turkey. Rome will see decreasingly cloudy skies with highs returning to the mid-40s(F)/ near 6(C), while Athens will be overcast with scattered rain showers and highs in the lower 50s(F)/ lower teens(C). Paris will be unseasonably cold with highs in the upper 20s(F)/ near -2(C).

To the north, a trough of low pressure will dip into Scandinavia and move eastward throughout the day. This will trigger widespread scattered snow showers over Scandinavia as it pushes a cold front through the region. Oslo will see partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 30s(F)/ near 0(C), while Stockholm will see a few scattered snow showers with highs in the lower 20s(F)/ near -6(C). To the west, sunny conditions will accompany a ridge of high pressure that moves over the British Isles. This allows for a mild warming trend, with highs returning to the lower 40s(F)/ near 5(C) in London.
