Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, November 13, 2009.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida continue tracking through the Southeastern US on Friday. Flow around this system will continue to produce a strong frontal boundary that will extend over Florida and the Bahamas, and stretch over Cuba which will push into the Dominican Republic by evening. Expect moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms over the region with rainfall totals up to 2 inches in areas of severe storm development. Meanwhile, the tail end of this system will stretch over the Caribbean Sea and into Honduras and Nicaragua, and will push into Panama throughout the day. These areas will see heavy showers with strong storms. Ahead of this front in the east, light and scattered showers will initiate over the Lesser Antilles.
Behind this system, high pressure will build over Mexico and allow for a break in wet weather over the entire country. Expect warm and dry conditions with plenty of sunshine.
In South America, expect strong storms to develop over Colombia as onshore flow persists from the west. Also, wet conditions are anticipated again over the northern countries that will stretch into central Brazil. Light showers will linger over Brazil, while moderate to heavy rain will track through Uruguay and move into southern Brazil. Expect Sao Paulo to dry out and will see a few clouds with highs in the mid-80s(F)/ upper 20s(C), while Santiago will remain mostly sunny with highs near 80(F)/ 26(C).

Did you know that...
The great dust bowl era was kicked off on this date in 1933 as a dust storm spread from Montana to Maine on the 12th and 13th. Black rain was observed in New York and brown snow was reported in Vermont. Because of the dust, zero visibility was observed in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
