Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, November 14, 2009.
The remnants of tropical storm Ida will continue tracking northward up the East Coast on Saturday. The system will pull moisture in from the Atlantic Ocean, and bring another day of scattered showers to New England and the Northeast. A few drizzles are expected over the Mid-Atlantic states while New England will see up to a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rainfall. The region will remain under coastal flooding conditions with tides 2-3 feet above normal. Most of the region will see highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Meanwhile behind this system, a ridge of high pressure will build over the Gulf states and the Mississippi River Valley. This will allow for another day with mild weather. The Southeast may see a few lingering clouds with highs returning to the 70s. To the north, a weak frontal boundary will persistently move eastward into the Great Lakes region on Saturday. The system will produce scattered drizzles with a few light showers over the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Temperatures will remain well above freezing, thus, snow is not expected. However, strong winds will accompany this system with gusts up to 15-20 mph. As the tail end of this front lingers over the Central Rockies, light and scattered snowfall will persist in the morning, which will diminish throughout the day.
Further west, a cold front will continue pushing through the Pacific Northwest and over the Northern Rockies. Expect 2-4 inches of snow at higher elevations while another system will approach the coast and bring another batch of rainy conditions by evening.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of -5 degrees at Bannack, Mont. to a high of 88 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
