Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, November 09, 2009.
Active weather persist over Europe on Monday as multiple weather features hover over the continent. A strong low pressure system will continue spinning over the central Mediterranean countries. This will pick up ample moisture from the south and allow for moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop over the eastern Mediterranean countries. Greece, Serbia, and Croatia will see strongest storms with rainfall totals up to 2 inches. At the same time, this system will allow for widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms to stretch from Bulgaria and Romania, and into Italy and Austria. Expect up to 3 inches of snow at higher elevations of Switzerland and northern Italy as cool temperatures may allow for scattered flurries. Rome will remain rainy on Monday with highs near 60(F)/ 16(C). Moisture from this system will stretch as far north as Scandinavia. With cool air present, the region may see scattered flurries with highs ranging from the upper 30s(F) to lower 40s(F)/ near 4(C).
A small ridge of higher pressure will build in behind this system to the west. Thus, Spain and Portugual will see a break in wet weather. Expect mostly sunny skies in Barcelona with highs in the lower 60s(F)/ mid-teens(C). This ridge will extend northward into the British Isles, while another trough of low pressure quickly advances into the region. Paris and London will see a few patchy clouds in Monday with highs in the lower 50s(F)/ lower teens(C).
