Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, December 06, 2009.
Tropical storm development is not anticipated over the Western Pacific on Sunday. However, active weather is expected over parts of Asia. In the east, a low pressure system in the Sea of Japan will continue on its northeastward track toward the Sea of Okhotsk and the Kuril Islands. Flow around this system will create a cold front that will sweep through Japan. Thus, scattered showers will persist over northern and eastern Japan, and stretch into northeastern China. Expect Tokyo to dry out by Sunday with highs near 60(F)/ 16(C) with mostly sunny skies as this system moves northeastward. At the same time, the back side of this system will pull cold air in from the north, and allow for highs to only reach into the upper 20s(F)/ near -2(C) with mostly sunny skies in Seoul.
In China, high pressure will start to push eastward and into the East China Sea on Sunday. This ridge will cover most of the country and allow for pleasant weather with mostly sunny skies. However, a trough of low pressure will develop in the west and is expected to kick up some scattered showers. Expect mostly sunny skies to persist in Beijing with highs near 40(F)/ 4(C), while Shanghai will also be sunny but highs will reach into the lower 50s(F)/ lower teens(C). To the south, moisture will move in from the South China Sea and bring a few patchy clouds to Hong Kong with highs remaining in the upper 60s(F)/ upper teens(C).
In Australia, high pressure will dominate the weather again on Sunday and bring another inactive day to the country. A low pressure system passing eastward, south of the Great Australian bight is not expected to reach over land. Thus, expect plenty of sunshine in Sydney with highs near 80(F)/ 26(C).
