Wet weather in the East will diminish as a cold front pushes off shore, while a strong low pressure system brings snow to the Southern Rockies on Tuesday. A low pressure system and associated cold front will push eastward and into the Atlantic Ocean as high pressure builds in from the Central US. The front may bring some residual morning showers to the coastal regions of the Mid-Atlantic and New England states. However, the front will wrap back around to the west and linger over Florida where it will trigger light rains with rainfall totals less than a half of an inch. Afternoon thunderstorms may develop, so expect up to an inch in these areas. Breezy conditions will persist over the region with gusts between 20-25 mph. The Southeast will be warm again on Tuesday with highs in the upper 60s, while North will see highs in the 40s.

In the West, a small yet intense low pressure system will move northeastward from northern Mexico and into the Southern Rockies and Southern Plains. Flow around this system will pull moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico and allow for 1-2 inches of snowfall, with up to 5 inches anticipated at higher elevations. The eastern edge of this system will move over Texas and bring abundant moisture to the Texas coast. This will allow for periods of heavy rain and coastal flooding will be a threat for the region. This system will also push cloudy skies that may trigger a few sprinkles over Alabama and Georgia by Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile to the North, a low pressure system will dip into the country from Canada. This system will pull warmer air in from the south and allow for another unseasonably warm day for the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs near 50 over most of the Midwest, while areas along the border may see some scattered precipitation.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of -7 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont. to a high of 82 degrees at Boca Raton, Fla.
