Wintry weather persisted over the extreme Northeast on Sunday as a strong low pressure system slowly pushed offshore on Sunday. The system has brought a few inches of snowfall to New England and the Northeast, but on Sunday, finally pushed offshore and into the Atlantic Ocean. New England saw diminishing snowfall that ended early on Sunday, but Massachusetts saw lingering snowfall with accumulation between 4-5 inches. The region also saw dangerous travel conditions due to strong winds causing blowing snow. East Milton, Massachusetts reported wind gusts up to 37 mph. Elsewhere in the East, high pressure build in over the Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys and brought sunny and cool conditions to most of the Eastern US. In the North, a small low pressure system tracked through the Upper Midwest on Sunday and kicked up light and scattered snowfall over the region. Less than a half of an inch of snow was reported over Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Further west, a low pressure system moved onshore from the Pacific Ocean. The system kicked up light and scattered precipitation over the Pacific Northwest with less than a tenth of an inch of rain reported over the region with light snow at high elevations. The rest of the West Coast saw cool conditions but precipitation has not yet initiated over California.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of -13 degrees at Gunnison, Colo. to a midday high of 73 degrees at Santa Monica, Calif.
