Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, May 20, 2013.
A broad low pressure system rotating over western Europe will create more wet weather for the region on Monday. A low pressure system sitting over Germany and Denmark will continue spinning counter-clockwise, pulling moisture into the European Mainland from the the North Sea and the Bay of Biscay. This will allow for showers and thunderstorms to persist for parts of the eastern United Kingdom, across France and Germany, and reaching northward into southern Norway and Sweden. Some of these storms may turn severe with heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possibly some large hail. To the south, a trough of low pressure will extend southward from this system and stretch down the Iberian Peninsula. This will allow for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop over Spain and Portugal on Monday. Paris and London will mostly cloudy with scattered showers with highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper 20s(C), while Munich will be overcast with showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and highs near 60(F)/ 16(C). Barcelona will be overcast with a chance of shower and thunderstorm activity with highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper teens(C). Also expect showers in Olso and Stockholm with highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C).
To the east of this system, dry conditions will persist for most of eastern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean countries as higher pressure dominates. Rome will be mostly sunny with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C), while Athens will be sunny with highs in the lower 80s(F)/ upper 20s(C). .
