... Red flag warning in effect below 7000 feet from 9 am this morning to 7 PM MST this evening due to strong wind and low humidity...
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a red flag warning... which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 PM MST this evening.
A low pressure system developing over the Great Basin will bring strong southwest winds to central and northern Arizona today. Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected. Minimum relative humidities will range from 10 to 15 percent below 7000 feet with higher values above 7000 feet. Humidities will rise above critical levels by 7 PM although breezy conditions will continue through the evening hours.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will during the warning period. A combination of strong winds and low relative humidities will create explosive fire growth potential.
Please notify field crews of this red flag warning.
