Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:07 PM PDT on July 29, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 6 am PDT Thursday through
Thursday evening...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southwest California...
including the following areas... Antelope Valley... and Los
Angeles County mountains including The Pines burn area.

* From 6 am PDT Thursday through Thursday evening.

* Stronger or slower moving thunderstorm will potentially bring
rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches or greater per hour. This could
lead to flash flooding... debris flows... and Rockslides across
the warning area.

* Impacts... normally dry washes and arroyos could rise quickly
leading to flash flooding downstream. Roads could be closed due
to water flowing over them as well as mud and rocks washing onto
them. The recent pines burn area could see debris flows if
impacted by thunderstorm activity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Anyone travelling into the watch area on Thursday should check
the latest National Weather Service statements and warnings as
well as the latest Road conditions.
