Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 17, 2012.

The cold front of the East will provide more wet weather activity in the Eastern Seaboard on Thursday. The northern half of this cold front is expected to trek toward the Atlantic Ocean, while the southern half of this front drops across the Southeast. Moist and unstable conditions ahead of the northern edge of this cold front will kick up another batch of rain and thunderstorms in the Northeast and lighter precipitation and storms in the Mid-Atlantic. Precipitation in these regions is expected to wind down through the afternoon, while light showers and thunderstorms from the Carolinas through the central Gulf Coast continue through the rest of the day.

Meanwhile, in the West, a large and complex system will push across the Northwest and trek into the Upper Midwest on Thursday. The system will bring areas of light rain and clusters of thunderstorms from portions of the Intermountain West into Upper Mississippi Valley and the Upper Great Lakes. Elsewhere in the West, expect warmer than normal temperatures to persist in the Desert Southwest.
