The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
northwestern Anne Arundel County in central Maryland...
southeastern Howard County in central Maryland...

* until 100 am EDT

* at 953 PM EDT... local law enforcement reported flooding in
southeastern Howard County. Gorman Road is closed due to high
water. In addition... small streams in the area continue to rise
from recent heavy rainfall and may flood low lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Columbia... Severn... Elkridge... Crofton... Odenton... Fort Meade...
Savage-Guilford... Scaggsville... Harmans... Jessup... Hanover...
Savage... Simpsonville... Georgetown... Ilchester and Linthicum.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
