324 PM HST Thu Sep 3 2015

... High surf warning now in effect until 6 PM HST Saturday...

The high surf warning is now in effect for east facing shores until 6
PM HST Saturday.

* Surf... along east facing shores... 12 to 18 feet.

* Timing... through 6 PM HST Saturday.

* Impacts... very high... expect ocean water surging and sweeping
across beaches... coastal benches... and lava flows creating the
potential for impacts to coastal properties and
infrastructure... including roadways. Powerful longshore and
rip currents will be present at most beaches. Large breaking
waves and strong currents may impact Harbor entrances and
channels causing challenging boat handling.

A high surf advisory is in effect for south facing shores from 6
am HST Friday until 6 PM HST Saturday.

* Surf... along south facing shores... 6 to feet.

* Timing... from 6 am HST Friday through 6 PM HST Saturday.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves... shore
break... and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These dangerous conditions mean that only highly experienced
persons should enter the water. Inexperienced persons should
remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking
surf... significant shore break... and dangerous currents make
entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water
could face significant injury or death.

303 PM HST Thu Sep 3 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 PM HST Friday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* all Hawaiian islands.

* Until 6 PM HST Friday.

* A very moist air mass... together with an upper level trough just
west of the state... will likely produce locally heavy showers
and thunderstorms through Friday. Saturated soils from recent
and current rainfall across the state will increase the risk for
flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.
