... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 1 PM Friday to 1 PM PST
Saturday above 5500 feet...

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for Lassen National Park and the west slopes of
the northern Sierra Nevada above 5500 feet for snow... which is in
effect from 1 PM Friday to 1 PM PST Saturday.

* Snow accumulations: 4 to 8 inches above 5500 feet. Local
accumulations of up to 12 inches possible over the higher peaks.

* Elevation: above 5500 feet.

* Timing: Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon.

* Locations include: Lassen National Park... Donner Pass... Echo
Summit... Carson Pass.

* Winds: southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Impacts: travel delays and chain requirements likely across the
mountain passes including Interstate 80 and Highway 50.

   Saturday may cause travel delays.

   mountains... spread south Friday and continue into Saturday.
*Heaviest rain and snow expected late Friday into Saturday.

   3500 ft by Saturday. Moderate snow accumulations will be
   possible above 5500 ft.
*Afternoon thunderstorms possible in the valley and foothills
   Friday and Saturday.
