Beach Hazard Statement
Statement as of 9:59 PM PDT on March 29, 2015

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Monday
evening...

* hazards and timing... mixed northwest and southwest swell will
persist through Monday evening. Surf will range from 6 to 8
feet along exposed west facing shores through at least Monday
morning. There is a chance that the surf could build to 9 to
12 feet with local sets to 14 feet through Monday afternoon
and a high surf advisory may be needed. Frequent strong rip
currents and strong long-shore currents are likely.

* Tides... the lower high tide is expected to occur in the
evening with the higher high tide occurring in the early
morning.

* Impacts... elevated surf will bring strong rip currents and
long- shore currents. Long period swell also causes more
powerful surf and a potential for minor beach erosion during
times of high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats to beach and
surf zone safety are expected or occurring. Caution should be
used when in or near the water. Stay near occupied lifeguard
towers and never swim alone. If caught in a rip current... swim
parallel to the shore.
