Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:05 PM MDT on July 04, 2015

... The small stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until 400 PM MST
for southeastern Navajo and southwestern Apache counties...

At 303 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated that very light rain was
continuing over the advisory area. More light rain will be possible
within the next hour. Small stream flooding may continue in the
advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Brown creek... Oso
Draw... Little Colorado River... Hay Hollow Draw and Cheney Draw.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Coconino County in north central Arizona...

* until 600 PM MST

* at 202 PM MST... gauge reports at Sand Springs indicated a rise of
four and a half feet on Dinnebito Wash. This equates to a flow of
around 1200 cubic feet per second. The runoff is likely from
storms upstream last night. This flow will make its way to the
Little Colorado River near Wupatki National Monument.

* Water will remain confined to Dinnebito Wash. Should The Wash be
dry downstream of Sand Springs... be prepared for flow to increase.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Dinnebito Wash.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff will cause Dinnebito Wash to run high for several
hours. Do not attempt to travel across Dinnebito Wash. Find
alternate routes.
