Nowcast | as of 4:04 PM MST on July 28, 2015

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across much of Southeast Arizona through early this evening. The storms will produce locally heavy rainfall in excess of one inch that could result in areas of flooding. In addition...some blowing dust is possible which may locally reduce visibility...particulary on I-10 from Marana to Red Rock. The storms are drifting to the north at about 5 to 10 mph.

Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 4:52 PM MDT on July 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
east central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 645 PM MST

* at 448 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated that a cluster of showers
and thunderstorms on the east side of the Catalina and Rincon
Mountains and into northwest Cochise County have produced very
heavy rain. Radar rainfall estimates indicate that amounts of 1 to
1.5 inches have occurred with these storms... with isolated amounts
near 2 inches possible. This will cause small stream flooding
along the roadway between Redington and Cascabel. There are
numerous dips in this roadway and based on spotter reports... the
washes that cross the roadway are rapidly running with water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Muleshoe ranch preserve... Cascabel and possibly Mescal.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Expect heavy flow in
normally dry washes. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads.
