Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:14 PM CDT on May 22, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from Sunday afternoon
through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwest Arkansas and west central Arkansas...
including the following areas... in northwest Arkansas...
Benton... Carroll... Crawford... Madison and Washington. In west
central Arkansas... Franklin and Sebastian.

* From Sunday afternoon through Monday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected during
the watch period... with lighter rains tonight through Saturday
becoming more widespread and heavy Saturday night through Sunday
night.

* Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches will be common through Monday
morning... with locally higher amounts approaching 5 inches possible.
The heaviest rainfall across west central and northwest Arkansas is
expected Sunday and Sunday night... which will likely lead to
flash flooding given the saturated soils. Anyone who has outdoor
activities or travel planned over the coming weekend should
closely monitor conditions for possible closures of roads and
recreational areas... and plan accordingly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means rapidly rising water or flooding is
possible within the watch area.

If you are in the watch area... keep informed... and be ready for
quick action if flash flooding is observed or if a warning is
issued.

If you live near... or travel across a stream... creek or river
subject to flooding... now is the time to prepare for dangerous
flooding.
