Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 23, 2013. A strong, large storm will continue making its way through the eastern third of the country on Thursday, producing more, active weather east of the Mississippi Valley. While the active weather is not likely to produce the severe thunderstorms that have greeted the country over the past several days, scattered thunderstorms will be likely, especially in the Southeast. In addition, moderate to occasionally heavy rain will move through the Northeast, followed by cool showers in the Ohio Valley and Upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, some moisture pushing into the Southern Plains could possibly instigate some severe thunderstorms in northern Texas and western Oklahoma. Due to this possibility, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather in the area for Thursday. This means residents in the area should prepare as if severe weather will develop, making any necessary preparations to protect life and property.

Also, a seasonably strong low pressure system will linger over the Pacific Northwest today, allowing wet weather to continue in the area. While rain will be the overwhelming precipitation due to this storm, a few snow showers will be possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades.

Additionally, rain will also spread as far east as central Montana.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures.

The Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River near Greenville
* until late Friday night.
* At 9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 48.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
early Friday afternoon.

The Flood Advisory continues for the Mississippi River near Arkansas City.
* Until Saturday afternoon.
* At 9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 36.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue slowly falling over the next
several days.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the low Silt plain in front of Arkansas City
inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
bottomland flooding at Huntington Point Mississippi.

... New record high minimum temperature set at Jackson may 20th...

A low temperature of 73 degrees occurred on may 20th 2013 at the
Jackson-Evers international Airport. This breaks the previous record
high minimum temperature of 72... last set on this date in 1898.

            Numerous reports of trees and powerlines down across the
            County. 20-30 powerlines were down on Lake Hall Road.
            Several powerlines and trees were down on Highway 159.
            Also a tree fell on a Camper trapping the resident in
            Pecan Grove RV park.
