Special Statement
Issued: 10:51 AM CST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Light snow showers lingering for most of the area... but a few
moderate bands of snow possible into the early afternoon...

The bands of snow showers that produced anywhere from a brief light
dusting in many valley locations to around one to two inches in parts
of northeastern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee are slowing
moving off to the east. Light snow showers and flurries will persist
into the early afternoon with little additional accumulation expected
through about 1 to 2 PM. However... brief moderate bands of
snow... especially in portions of northern Morgan and western Marshall
counties may produce an additional heavy dusting to as much as one
half inch of snow through the early afternoon.

This lull in snow shower activity will be relatively brief... with
more moderate to briefly heavy snow showers expected to develop in
northwestern and north central Alabama again this afternoon.
Additional accumulations this afternoon will generally be less than
one half inch... although higher isolated amounts may occur in heavier
snow shower bands. Temperatures will remain near freezing for much of
the day which may lead to some minor accumulations of snow on bridges
and overpasses especially during more moderate snow shower activity
this afternoon. Motorists should expect to encounter slower travel
during the afternoon and evening commute.

The snow shower activity is still expected to quickly diminish in
coverage and intensity across the area early this evening.
