Scattered showers and thunderstorms with moderate to heavy downpours will move quickly westward near 20 knots across the Florida Keys and adjacent coastal waters this evening. The heavier showers and storms will be found in the Lower Keys and the Gulf and Bay waters north and west of the Keys. These storms will produce winds near 40 knots...temporarily blinding downpours...and frequent lightning strikes. Through 1100 PM...some Keys island communities will experience a heavy downpours and gusty winds. Coverage and intensity of showers and thunderstorms is expected to increase further overnight and Sunday.

... Strong storms moving through the Lower Keys...

A line of strong thunderstorms are moving towards the west at 25 mph
over the Lower Keys. These storms will impact the islands from
Cudjoe Key to Key West. Residents and motorists can expect very
heavy rain... with gusts to 40 mph... and frequent lightning strikes.
Those along the overseas Highway should be prepared for rapidly
changing conditions and near zero visibility in blinding downpours.
