... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 am to 1 PM EST
Friday...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for freezing rain as well as some snow and
sleet... which is in effect from 5 am to 1 PM EST Friday.

* Locations... coastal Pender... New Hanover... Brunswick...
Darlington... Florence... Marion... and Horry counties.

* Hazard types... freezing rain... snow and sleet.

* Accumulations... ice accumulation of a trace to less than a tenth
of an inch. A light coating of snow and sleet is possible.

* Timing... Friday morning through early afternoon.

* Impacts... roadways and walkways will likely become very
slippery. Bridges and overpasses will be especially dangerous.

* Winds... northeast 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures... around 30 degrees early Friday morning... rising
slowly through the 30s through early afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain... snow...
and sleet... will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:11 PM EST Feb. 11, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to 1 am
EST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 1 am
EST Friday.

* Location... area bordering along the lower Cape Fear River.

* Coastal flooding... water levels are expected to peak around 5.9
feet MLLW at the downtown Wilmington river gauge. The coastal
flood threshold for shallow flooding along the lower Cape Fear
River is 5.50 feet MLLW.

* Timing... shallow flooding will occur just after the time of high
tide... which is at 949 PM EST for downtown Wilmington and
nearby locations on the river.

* Impacts... up to a foot of water will cover parts of battleship
Road and U.S.S. North Carolina Road. Water will spread out of
storm drains across portions of Water Street. Water will spread
onto portions of River Road south of cape Boulevard.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will
combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
