Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 8:36 PM EDT on July 02, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northeast Kentucky... southwest Virginia and West
Virginia... including the following areas... in northeast
Kentucky... Boyd... Carter... Greenup and Lawrence KY. In
southwest Virginia... Buchanan and Dickenson. In West
Virginia... Boone... Cabell... Clay... Fayette... Kanawha...
Lincoln... Logan... McDowell... Mingo... Nicholas... Putnam...
Raleigh... Wayne and Wyoming.

* Through Friday evening

* although showers and isolated storms will be less for much of
the night... an organized band of heavy showers and embedded
thunderstorms will affect the area late tonight and especially
Friday... as low pressure m0ves across.

* The ground is saturated... so much of the rain will be runoff.
Thus... the threat for flash flooding continues... especially on
Friday. When all is said and done... a general 1 to as much as 3
inches of rain can be expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
