Statement as of 2:59 PM MDT on July 31, 2015

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
west central Santa Cruz County in southeastern Arizona...
south central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 545 PM MST

* at 252 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms that extend from
Kitt Peak and south to Fresnal Canyon and toward San Miguel. These
showers and storms also extend east toward the Arivaca area. Radar
rainfall estimates indicate widespread rainfall amounts ranging
from a quarter to a half inch with amounts of three quarters of an
inch to one inch between Newfield and Arivaca Junction and also
near Fresnal Canyon where even amounts greater than 1.5 inches may
be occurring. This will cause small stream flooding which will
impact San Simon wash... Sells wash and Brawley wash just to name a
few. Motorists traveling along Route 19 between Sells and San
Miguel... and along Route 286 between Arivaca Junction and Sasabe
should be alert for water crossing the roadways.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sells... Kitt Peak... Three Points... San Miguel... Choulic... Topawa...
Newfields... Sasabe... Junction of Highway 286 and Arivaca Road...
Fresnal Canyon... Artesa... Arivaca... little Tucson... Vamori and
South Komelik.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of washes
and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
