Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 12:14 AM HST on May 23, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 215 am HST

* at 1206 am HST... radar and rain gauge data showed persistent
moderate to locally heavy rains across portions of windward west
Maui... from near napili to Waikapu. This area of rain was nearly
stationary. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be
possible... along with elevated water levels on area streams.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Waihee... Waiehu... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... Honolua and
Honokohau.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This Flood Advisory replaces the previously issued advisory that was
in effect for portions of the island of Maui in Maui County.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 215 am HST if heavy rain
persists.
