Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:04 PM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until noon EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a coastal Flood Advisory... which is in effect until noon EST
Wednesday.

* Location... vulnerable areas of Highway 12 susceptible to ocean
overwash from large swells.

* Coastal flooding... ocean overwash is the main concern around the
times of high tide late this evening and again around mid
morning on Wednesday. Water could briefly cover portions of
Highway 12 in areas where dunes have been breached from sunday's
storm.

* Timing... around high tide around 8 PM this evening and again
around 9 am on Wednesday.

* Impacts... minor ocean overwash and minor beach erosion.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
