Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Unsettled weather continues in parts of northeastern Asia on Tuesday. In the north, an area of low pressure in the Sea of Japan will lift northward toward Sakhalin Island. This wave of energy will become more complex as it nears the island and spans into the Sea of Okhotsk, driving widely scattered showers from southeastern mainland Russia through Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands.

To the south, another area of low pressure in the East China Sea will advance east-northeastward across South Korea through the southern Sea of Japan into southern Honshu. Ample moisture and energy will accompany this low and will lead to light to moderate rain showers with areas of locally heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of South Korea and southern Japan. Seoul will see chances of rain with totals near 0.2 inches/5.6 mm during the day and a high in the upper 70s(F)/25(C). Tokyo will see increasing cloud cover with a high near 82(F)/28(C), with showers following on Wednesday. Meanwhile, an associated frontal boundary will extend from the low back into Jiangsu through Hubei. Moisture pooling along this disturbance will lead to light to moderate showers with thunderstorms near Shanghai through the day.

Further south, expect showers with a few sunny intervals to continue in the southeastern provinces of China from Guangdong through Zhejiang.

For Australia, low pressure just south of Western Australia will lead to continued southern coastal showers on Tuesday, while chances of showers spread into the northwestern corner of the region near to just south of Port Headland. A second, strong trough of low pressure in the Tasman Sea will maintain chances of light showers near the New South Wales and eastern Victoria coasts as it shifts eastward toward New Zealand. Expect cooling to continue along the New South Wales coast through the mid-week.
