Nowcast | as of 5:50 PM EDT on August 20, 2014

Through sunset...areas around east central Florida will only experience an isolated storm or two. Consequently...there will be little relief to the afternoon heat as temperatures remain in the mid 90s for interior locations away from the coast. Across the interior...heat index values will remain in the 98 to 105 degree range until the sun angle gets lower in the sky toward sunset. Hot and humid conditions will be similar for tomorrow. Be sure to factor the threat for excessive heat into your plans. Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in a shady or air conditioned place... especially when engaged in rigorous outdoor activities. When outside...wear light weight and light colored clothing...and a hat with a brim and ventilation. Also...as much as possible...stay out of the direct sunshine. Listen for possible statements regarding the threat for excessive heat during the next few days. Additional details...including graphics are available online at: http://www.Srh.NOAA.Gov/mlb/blog.Php
