The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 1245 PM HST

* at 936 am HST... showers across the windward west Maui mountains
have become lighter however stream gages in these areas remain
elevated. This area of rain was nearly stationary.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Kanaha Beach Park... Wailuku... Waihee... Waiehu... Spreckelsville...
Pauwela... Paia... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... Kaanapali...
Huelo... hookipa Beach Park... Honolua... Honokowai... Honokohau and
Haiku.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.


This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1245 PM HST if heavy
rain persists.

across windward west Maui and Haleakala remain elevated. The area
of rain was nearly stationary.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

The high surf advisory is now in effect until 6 PM HST Tuesday.

* Surf... rising to 10 to 15 feet along north facing shores and 6
to 9 feet along east facing shores.

* Timing... until 6 PM HST Tuesday.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves... shore
break... and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Beachgoers... swimmers... and surfers should heed all advice given
by ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Boaters should
expect recreational surfers and body boarders utilizing Harbor
channels to access surfing areas.
