for southwestern Nueces and central Kleberg counties...

At 114 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable
of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was
located near Bishop... or 9 miles south of Driscoll... moving northeast
at 40 mph.

Locations impacted include...
Kingsville... Driscoll... Bishop and Kingsville Naval Air Station.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

To report severe weather... contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Corpus Christi .

mph.

The Flood Warning continues for the Nueces River near Bluntzer.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:00 PM Saturday the stage was 29.4 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast: the river will continue to fall to a stage of 28.3 feet
by Monday morning.

* At 31.0 feet, major lowland flooding occurs from near blutzer to
Calallen. Widespread residential flooding likely will occur for
weeks. This includes homes in the following subdivisions: Sandy
hallow, los dos Palomas, los Escondido, and along Oak lne in Rio
encinos. Many secondary roads, primary roads, and low bridges are
flooded, with water possibly a few feet deep. Livestock are cut off
possibly for weeks and could drown.

* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:00 PM Saturday the stage was 25.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast: the river will remain near 25.9 feet.

* At 26.0 feet, moderate lowland flooding occurs. Many homes
downstream between Bluntzer and calallan become flooded, with
residents possibly cut off for weeks.

... Forecast flooding increased from moderate to major severity...
the Flood Warning continues for the Nueces River at Calallen.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:30 PM Saturday the stage was 8.4 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Forecast: the river will continue rising to near 8.7 feet by
tomorrow early afternoon then begin falling.

* At 8.5 feet, major lowland flooding occurs. Roads flood through
residential areas, cutting off homes near Calallen at times for
weeks. Evacuations are required in the subdivisions of County Road
73 in Riverside Addition 1 and 2, Riverside Annex, Twin Lakes,
Riverside Acres and homes in the Nueces River estates and lindgreen
estates. Hazel Bazemore Park is flooded, and labonte park is
inundated.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of south Texas... including the following areas...
Aransas... Bee... Calhoun... Duval... Goliad... Jim Wells...
Kleberg... La Salle... Live Oak... McMullen... Nueces... Refugio...
San Patricio... Victoria and Webb.

* Through Monday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to
occur over much of the Holiday weekend. Rainfall totals of 2
to 5 inches are expected... on average... with isolated higher
amounts likely.

* Due to the very moist conditions of the grounds and soils in
the area... rapid flash flooding will be possible where heavy
rains develop.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible in or near
the watch area. If you are in the watch area... plan now for what
you will do if flash flooding develops. Stay informed and be
ready to act if you see flooding or if a Flash Flood Warning is
issued.
