Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:06 PM PDT on May 21, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Oregon and northeast Oregon... including
the following areas... in central Oregon... John Day basin and
ochoco-John Day Highlands. In northeast Oregon... Grande Ronde
Valley... northern Blue Mountains of Oregon... southern Blue
Mountains of Oregon and Wallowa County.

* Through Friday evening

* although storms will taper off overnight... another round of
thunderstorms bringing heavy downpours is forecast again on
Friday. These thunderstorms will bring heavy rain over many
areas that received heavy rain today. Expect rainfall rates of
one half to one inch of rain per hour with some storms. This
will threaten areas of central and northeast Oregon with flash
flooding or debris flows.

* Expect standing water along roadways where thunderstorms
develop... especially in areas that have poor drainage. The
main threat will be debris flows in areas of steep terrain.
Sharp rises along river and streams are also possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
