... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 3 PM PDT this afternoon
through Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central Oregon... including
the following John Day basin and ochoco-John Day Highlands.

* From 3 PM PDT this afternoon through Saturday evening

* rain amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible over the Canyon
Creek wildfire area tonight through Saturday and it is possible
that a few areas could see amounts near 1 inch.

* The rain may result in flash flooding or debris flows on the
recently burnt areas... especially along Canyon Creek above
Canyon City and John Day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
