Heat Advisory
Statement as of 4:13 AM CDT on August 05, 2015

... Heat advisory in effect from noon today to 6 PM CDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CDT this
evening.

* Temperature... heat indices to range from 110 to 114 degrees.

* Impacts... children... the elderly... and people with chronic
illness tend to be affected the most by the heat. Heat
exhaustion... cramps... or in extreme cases heat stroke can result
from prolonged exposure. Friends... relatives... or neighbors
should check on people who may be at risk.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory is issued when the heat index... a measure of how
it feels when temperature and humidity are combined... equals or
exceeds 111 for 2 hours or more during the day.

Heat kills! Never leave children and pets unattended in vehicles.
Temperatures can become lethal in minutes... rising above 130
degrees. In the past dozen years... 475 children have died in hot
vehicles. Don't let it happen to yours.

Remember... beat the heat... check the back seat!
