Beach Hazard Statement
Statement as of 1:35 AM PDT on March 27, 2015

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Sunday
afternoon...

* hazards and timing... surf will build to 4 to 6 feet today on
south facing beaches and continue through the weekend. Frequent
strong rip currents... strong long-shore currents and sneaker
waves will be possible during this time. The elevated surf and
strong rip currents may persist through Monday.

* Tides... the next high tide about 4 feet is expected around 4 am
PDT today... followed by a low tide around a half foot around
noon PDT.

* Impacts... elevated surf will bring strong rip currents and
long-shore currents to area beaches... along with a risk of
sneaker waves. Long period swell also causes more powerful
surf and a potential for minor beach erosion during times of
high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats to beach and
surf zone safety are expected or occurring. Caution should be
used when in or near the water. Stay near occupied lifeguard
towers and never swim alone. If caught in a rip current... swim
parallel to the shore.
