Much of the showers and thunderstorms in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast tapered off late Sunday morning as the cold front associated with this activity moved in the western Atlantic. Only a few rain showers persist in southern Florida. Behind this activity, drier weather conditions prevailed from the Central and Southern Plains through much of the Southeast during the afternoon. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures raised fire danger concerns from the Kansas and Oklahoma through much of the Florida Peninsula. These areas remained under Red Flag Warnings through the afternoon.

To the north, another cold front moved through the Lower Great Lakes and Northeast, allowing scattered snow showers to persist from parts of the Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes through parts of the Northeast. Meanwhile, a fast moving system dropped southeastward across the Northern Plains and reached the Mid-Mississippi Valley by the afternoon. This system brought scattered snow showers and periods of heavy snowfall to Iowa.

In the West, generally calm conditions continued over the West as high pressure remained the dominant weather feature of the region.
