The coastal Flood Advisory is now in effect from 8 am to 1 PM EST
Thursday. A high surf advisory remains in effect from 5 am
Thursday to midnight EST Thursday night.
Strong southerly winds tonight into Thursday morning will produce
a surge of about 1 1/2 feet... which in combination with high
astronomical tides associated with the full moon will cause
widespread minor coastal flooding around the times of high tide
Thursday morning. Water levels on the westernmost portion of Long
Island Sound will fall just short of moderate flooding
thresholds.
Very high surf will also cause further minor to moderate erosion
at ocean beaches that have already been battered significantly in
previous coastal storms this year.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
