Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Advisory
Issued: 12:36 PM EST Feb. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST
Thursday...
... Winter Weather Advisory is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has cancelled the
Winter Weather Advisory.

* Hazard types... black ice... and dangerously cold wind chills.

* Locations... northeast Georgia... mainly east and north of
Chatsworth to Dawsonville to Cleveland.

* Wind chill readings... 5 below to 5 above early this morning
and again Wednesday night.

* Impacts... lingering snow and ice on roads will create hazardous
driving conditions. Even the lower elevations of north Georgia
will see the potential for slick spots on roadways due to re-
freezing of water or snow. For wind chills... rapid onset of
frost bite and hypothermia are possible if proper precautions
are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills.
This can result in frost bite and could lead to hypothermia if
precautions are not taken. If you must venture
outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Special Statement
Issued: 1:22 PM EST Feb. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Patchy black ice will continue through early Thursday morning
across extreme north Georgia...

Patchy black ice... mainly in sheltered areas continues this
afternoon across extreme north Georgia and will continue into
early Thursday morning. Some melting on roads has occurred with
todays sunshine... however refreezing will occur after sunset
tonight. The main area of concern is generally north of a line
from Rome to Gainesville to Cleveland. Secondary roads... bridges
and overpasses will be most prone to seeing black ice.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution through early Thursday
morning.
