Flash Flood Warning
Statement as of 2:06 PM HST on September 03, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
the island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* until 500 PM HST

* at 154 PM HST... radar shows lines of heavy showers and
thunderstorms over Honolulu... central and windward Oahu. Very
heavy downpours with rain rates exceeding 3 inches per hour at
times will occur. Additional heavy rainfall is expected over
already flooded portions of downtown Honolulu.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Kapolei... Waipio... Mililani... Wahiawa... Kahuku... Laie... Kaaawa...
Kaneohe... Kailua... Waimanalo... Hawaii Kai... Aiea... and Pearl City.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring
in streams... roads and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This Flash Flood Warning replaces the pre-existing warning that was
in effect for the island of Oahu in Honolulu County.

This warning may need to be extended beyond 500 PM HST if flash
flooding persists.

Flash Flood Watch, High Surf Warning
Statement as of 3:03 PM HST on September 03, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 PM HST Friday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* all Hawaiian islands.

* Until 6 PM HST Friday.

* A very moist air mass... together with an upper level trough just
west of the state... will likely produce locally heavy showers
and thunderstorms through Friday. Saturated soils from recent
and current rainfall across the state will increase the risk for
flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.

317 am HST Thu Sep 3 2015

... High surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST this
evening...

A high surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST this
evening.

* Surf... along east facing shores... 10 to 15 feet.

* Timing... through 6 PM HST this evening.

* Impacts... very high... expect ocean water surging and sweeping
across beaches... coastal benches... and lava flows creating the
potential for impacts to coastal properties and
infrastructure... including roadways. Powerful longshore and rip
currents will be present at most beaches. Large breaking waves
and strong currents may impact Harbor entrances and channels
causing challenging boat handling.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These dangerous conditions mean that only highly experienced
persons should enter the water. Inexperienced persons should
remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking
surf... significant shore break... and dangerous currents make
entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water
could face significant injury or death.
