Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch, High Surf Warning
Statement as of 8:46 AM HST on September 03, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* until 1145 am HST

* at 836 am HST... radar showed heavy rain near Kunia... or about 14
miles northwest of Honolulu. The area of heavy rain was nearly
stationary.

* Other locations in the advisory include all of Oahu.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rain has shifted over to the leeward side of Oahu. Rain over
windward areas has tapered off however streams remain high at this
time.

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This Flood Advisory replaces the previously issued advisory that was
in effect for portions of the island of Oahu in Honolulu County.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for the state of Hawaii until
midnight tonight.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1145 am HST if heavy
rain persists.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until midnight HST tonight...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for all Hawaiian islands

* until midnight HST tonight.

* A very moist air mass... together with a trough of low pressure
in the middle atmosphere overhead... has been encouraging locally
heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop during the night.
Although most of the heaviest precipitation remained offshore...
rainfall locally saturated the soil from Oahu to The Big Island
overnight. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to cover only
a portion of the state at any one time... but local impacts may
be significant... and training showers may permit heavy rain to
continue at individual locations for extended periods of time.
Shower and thunderstorm development is expected to increase in
the afternoon and early evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.

317 am HST Thu Sep 3 2015

... High surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST this
evening...

A high surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST this
evening.

* Surf... along east facing shores... 10 to 15 feet.

* Timing... through 6 PM HST this evening.

* Impacts... very high... expect ocean water surging and sweeping
across beaches... coastal benches... and lava flows creating the
potential for impacts to coastal properties and
infrastructure... including roadways. Powerful longshore and rip
currents will be present at most beaches. Large breaking waves
and strong currents may impact Harbor entrances and channels
causing challenging boat handling.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These dangerous conditions mean that only highly experienced
persons should enter the water. Inexperienced persons should
remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking
surf... significant shore break... and dangerous currents make
entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water
could face significant injury or death.
