... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* the Lake Tahoe basin... Alpine County and the Washington
fire... Mono County... the Reno-Sparks area... and all of
Lyon... Storey... Churchill... Pershing and Mineral counties in
western Nevada.

* Until 8 PM PDT this evening

* showers and thunderstorms are developing this morning with
stronger activity possible this afternoon. A few strong
thunderstorms may produce torrential rainfall and lead to flash
flooding.

* Not all locations will receive heavy rainfall today. Areas that
received rainfall in the last couple days... poorly drained urban
locations... roads and campgrounds near small creeks and
streams... dry washes and the Washington fire are at risk for
flash flooding today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you area heading outside... have a plan to quickly return to a
sheltered location if a thunderstorm approaches your location.
Heavy rain can also lead to hypothermia... especially for those in
the back County. Be aware of your surroundings if you are near a
small creek... stream or Dry Wash. Heavy rain upstream can lead to
flooding an hour or two after the rainfall has ended.

Statement as of 11:28 AM PDT on July 04, 2015

... Strong thunderstorm moving north along Highway 89 near Truckee...

At 1126 am PDT... Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
over Truckee... moving north at 20 mph. This storm will impact Boca
and Stampede reservoirs... if out on these waters get out
immediately.

Frequent deadly lightning... heavy rain... small hail... and winds in
excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Sierraville... Boca Reservoir... Stampede Reservoir... Prosser Creek
Reservoir... Independence Lake... Calpine... Sattley...
glenshire-Devonshire cdp... Northstar... Truckee... Loyalton... Alpine
Meadows campground... Boca campground... CA 89 at Nevada-Sierra co
line... logger campground... upper little Truckee campground... Boca
rest campground... Donner Memorial campground... Hobart Mills and
Granite Flat Campground.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If on or near a lake... get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle now. Don't be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Strong wind gusts and lightning pose an immediate danger to boaters.
Gusty winds will cause a rapid increase in wave heights which may
capsize small boats.

Heavy rainfall is occurring with this storm. Expect ponding of water
on roadways. In areas of steep terrain... minor rock slides are
possible. Drivers should slow down and turn on their headlights if
encountering heavy rains.

Campers need to take shelter in a car or a sturdy building.

At 1100 am PDT... Doppler radar is tracking a strong thunderstorm
over Lake Tahoe moving north at 10 to 15 mph. This storm will impact
the North Shore of Lake Tahoe through 1130am.

Dangerous lightning... heavy rain and winds in excess of 30 mph will
be possible with this storm. Heavy rain will decrease temperatures
and may cause hypothermia.

Those attending events around Lake Tahoe should seek shelter from
this storm. Dangerous lightning is an immediate threat to
boaters... hikers... and those along the shore of Lake Tahoe.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle now. Don't
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm. Strong wind gusts and
