At 630 PM...Doppler radar showed thunderstorm cells moving into the far eastern portion of the Los Angeles County mountains...and the southeast Antelope Valley east of Pearblossom...including The Pines burn area. These storms have a history of producing frequent lightning and heavy rain. As these storms move into Los Angeles County they are like to produce additional heavy rain with possible flash flooding. If you encounter flooded roads in this area...turn around...dont drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Flash Flood Warning
Statement as of 7:13 PM PDT on July 30, 2015

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
the mountains and Antelope Valley in northeastern
Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* until 1015 PM PDT

* at 713 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms moving into
the warning area. These storms have a history of producing
frequent lightning and heavy rain... and flash flooding is
occurring or will begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the Pine
burn scar will result in debris flow moving through local
drainages. The debris flow can consist of rocks... mud and other
loose materials.

* Some locations that will experience flooding
include... Wrightwood... Big Pines... the Angeles crest Highway
between mount Waterman and Wrightwood... Lake Los Angeles...
Pearblossom... Llano... Valyermo... and Highway 138 between
Pearblossom and the San Bernardino County line.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. The heavy rains will likely
trigger Rockslides... mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain... especially in and around these areas.

Statement as of 7:41 PM PDT on July 30, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* the Antelope Valley and the Los Angeles County mountains
excluding the Santa Monica range.

* Until 10 PM PDT this evening

* rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or greater are
possible with some storms.

* Impacts... heavy rain could lead to flash flooding... mud and
debris flows... and Rockslides. Roads could be closed due to
water flowing over them as well as mud and rocks washing onto
them. The recent pines burn area will be at risk for mud and
debris flows if heavy rain occurs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Anyone in... or traveling through the watch area this evening
should check the latest National Weather Service statements and
possible warning. Also... check the latest Road conditions.
