... High surf advisory in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 8 PM
PDT Tuesday...
... Beach hazards statement is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a high surf
advisory... which is in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 8 PM
PDT Tuesday. The beach hazards statement has been cancelled.

* Waves and surf... surf 3 to 5 feet this afternoon... building to 4
to 6 feet with 7 to 8 foot sets on south and southwest facing
beaches Sunday through Tuesday.

* Timing... surf building during the day today... peaking Sunday
into Monday... and remaining elevated through Tuesday. Surf will
begin to slowly subside Tuesday evening.

* Tides... afternoon high tides around 5.5 ft and early morning
low tide around 0.5 ft.

* Impacts... high surf along with strong and frequent rip and
longshore currents will create hazardous swimming conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
