Beach Hazard Statement
Statement as of 9:59 PM PDT on March 29, 2015

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Monday
evening...

* hazards and timing... surf will range from 3 to 5 feet with
occasional sets to 6 feet. Frequent strong rip currents and
strong long-shore currents are likely.

* Tides... the lower high tide is expected to occur in the
evening with the higher high tide occurring in the early
morning.

* Impacts... elevated surf will bring strong rip currents and long-shore
currents to area beaches along with a risk of sneaker waves.
Long period swell also causes more powerful surf and a potential
for minor beach erosion during times of high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats to beach and
surf zone safety are expected or occurring. Caution should be
used when in or near the water. Stay near occupied lifeguard
towers and never swim alone. If caught in a rip current... swim
parallel to the shore.
